Since medical cannabis was legalised in 2018, almost 20,000 patients have been prescribed a medical cannabis product by approximately 100 specialist prescribers.  These numbers are rising rapidly.

Ananda predicts that, at an average annual spend per patient of £2,500, the UK market could be worth £140 million by 2024 and £500 million by 2028.   If even half of the estimated 1.4 million current illicit users, buying product on the black market for medical purposes (not recreational) could obtain a prescription, then the market value could be more than £2BN.
